HealthCareCAN and the Canadian College of Health Leaders were pleased to co-present the 2022 National Health Leadership Conference (NHLC). Themed “Leveraging leadership and people capacity for better health outcomes”, the conference was held virtually on June 6-7, 2022.

NHLC is the largest gathering of health leaders across Canada, this year, delegates evaluated and analyzed the challenges and lessons learned from the pandemic in terms of system and human capital and discovered how to empower leaders to elevate their people strategy, grow leadership and human resource capacity, and focus on building back better by caring for people.

On June 6th and 7th, 2022 HealthCareCAN and the Canadian College of Health Leaders co-hosted the National Health Leadership Conference. The 2022 theme was critically focused on the health human resources of the future and the NHLC’s signature session, the Great Canadian Health Policy Dialogue focused on actions to address the workforce crisis.

As a result of this year’s session, we the hospitals, organizations, professions, and patients, together call upon the federal government to implement five identified sustainable long-term solutions that address the key root causes of the health workforce crisis. Click here to learn more

Objectives of the National Health Leadership Conference


  • Provide a forum to enrich health leadership practices and innovations, and learn from one another;
  • Showcase leading practices and their successes;
  • Share issues of common interest in the areas of accountability, effectiveness and transparency in the health system;
  • Address and debate the challenges facing both policy-makers and health leaders that are changing health service delivery;
  • Discuss forms of innovation and new technologies that can improve health systems; and
  • Identify effective ways to execute and sustain complex changes.

Expected outcomes


Conference participants will:

  • Come away with practical ideas to bring to their work settings;
  • Build strong networks and engage in challenging conversations;
  • Gain insight on what it takes to be an effective leader;
  • Identify champions of improvement that can serve as role models; and
  • Reenergize and be better equipped to address system transformation challenges
