HealthCareCAN past President and CEO, Bill Tholl, appointed to the Order of Canada

HealthCareCAN past President and CEO, Bill Tholl, appointed to the Order of Canada

HealthCareCAN extends our sincere congratulations to William (Bill) Tholl, past president and CEO of HealthCareCAN, on being named as an Officer of the Order of Canada.

Bill’s career has been a true exemplar of the spirit of the Order, which recognizes outstanding achievement, dedication to the community, and service to the nation. As a public servant, CEO and advisor, Bill has had a significant and lasting impact on our health care system and has influenced the development of national health policy and practice for more than 40 years. His leadership of a number of the country’s largest health organizations, notably the Canadian Medical Association, the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada and HealthCareCAN, has been marked by a forward-thinking and enduring emphasis on public policy and engagement.

A saying of Bill’s, one of many known fondly among his colleagues as Bill-isms, has been that “Credit is always best given than taken,” and it is this collaborative approach to leadership that has helped inspire the next generation of health care professionals and advocates.

We at HealthCareCAN are proud to have had the opportunity to work with Bill and celebrate this well-deserved achievement.

Paul-Émile Cloutier, President and CEO
