HealthCareCAN celebrates women

HealthCareCAN celebrates women

March 8, 2022 (Ottawa) – It is no secret that the COVID-19 pandemic has been particularly difficult on women. We must also recognize that, beyond the pandemic, Canada has a long way to go to achieve gender equality. We need look no further than the heart-breaking stories shared by family members of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls or the accounts by women of colour of the hurdles they face when seeking employment opportunities.

But today, while we recognize the many hardships women face, we also celebrate their countless achievements, big and small, in spite of these hardships.

At HealthCareCAN, we have the pleasure of working for many incredible women leaders at Canadian healthcare organizations who, as trail-blazers and change-makers, have inspired new generations of women to follow in their footsteps.

Our hope is that one day, we will not need a special day to recognize women. Until that day comes, we continue our work in identifying ways of making the workplace a more welcoming, safe and supportive environment for women at all stages of their careers.

Paul-Émile Cloutier
