Federal election hits homestretch with Canadians needing to see more leadership for healthcare

Federal election hits homestretch with Canadians needing to see more leadership for healthcare

After three full debates, and with only 10 days left in the federal election campaign, Canadians desperately need to hear more, but the time for platitudes and bromides is over.

So far we have yet to hear a federal leader step forward with a clear and compelling plan and vision to ensure healthcare and health research in Canada can emerge stronger from the challenges of the COVID pandemic. For Canada to emerge stronger from COVID, and be ready for the next public health challenges that are sure to come, we urgently need:

  • Consistent, long-term investment to ramp up health research and biosciences;
  • Commitment to help create a national health workforce planning strategy;
  • A plan and vision supported by dedicated funding to reimagine and revitalize older adult care;
  • Urgent and increased federal financial support to modernize healthcare in Canada.

We have 10 days left in this election for a true leader to distinguish himself or herself and commit to helping Canada emerge stronger with a renewed vision for healthcare innovation and health research. Canadians need action now. We cannot afford to wait any longer.
