Our organization is an integrated system of hospitals: Whitehorse General Hospital (58 beds), Watson Lake Community Hospital (6 beds) and Dawson City Community Hospital (6 beds).

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, this position provides overall development, direction, operation and Support of Environmental Services for the Yukon Hospital Corporation (YHC). The Manager, Environmental Services is responsible for the provision of housekeeping and laundry/linen services for YHC.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Excellent knowledge of housekeeping methods and procedures;
  • Good knowledge of institutional laundry methods and procedures;
  • Good knowledge of hospital functions requiring special cleaning techniques, trends and developments in the housekeeping field;
  • Sound knowledge of management methods and techniques including human resource and financial management;
  • Effective interpersonal skills to create and maintain excellent working relationships with internal and external partners
  • Initiative, judgment and reliability;
  • Ability to establish and maintain standards of quality for the housekeeping area;
  • Ability to schedule and supervise staff;
  • Ability to plan, monitor, implement and evaluate human and financial resource requirements;
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;
  • Reliable, tactful, and diplomatic; and
  • Cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity.

The successful candidate will have Registered Laundry and Linen Director Certification; A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ management experience in housekeeping, preferably in a hospital/healthcare setting; and A valid Yukon Class 5 driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract. An equivalent combination of education/training and/or experience may be considered.
