Dear MP,
As Parliament adjourns for the summer, and you prepare to return to your constituency, HealthCareCAN is inviting parliamentarians to engage with hospitals, research institutes and healthcare organizations serving your community to learn and witness firsthand the challenges they are up against, and the impact these challenges are having on the health system, healthcare workers, and the delivery of care.
We urge you to set up virtual or in-person visits, as allowed by local and organizational health measures, to speak with healthcare workers and leaders about their experiences over the last two plus years, and how it has affected their work, their lives, and their health and wellbeing.
It has taken decades to reach this breaking point in the health system, and it will take all levels of government, working collaboratively with health system stakeholders, to fix our health system and ensure people across Canada receive the high-quality care they deserve. First and foremost, it will require federal leadership to bring together all levels of government to discuss the path forward. This is why HealthCareCAN continues to call on the federal government to convene an urgent First Minister’s Conference on Health in the fall of 2022.
It is our hope that you will draw on the conversations you have with health workers and leaders over the summer to influence your party’s and the federal government’s actions when Parliament returns in the fall – and make supporting our healthcare workers and fixing our health system a top priority.

Sincerely,
Paul-Émile Cloutier
