June 4, 2021 (Ottawa) – HealthCareCAN’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Martine Bouchard, President & CEO of St. Boniface Hospital, as its new Chair. The election took place at the May 30, 2021 virtual Board of Directors meeting, with Ms. Bouchard’s appointment effective immediately.
“HealthCareCAN’s work is critical in bringing a national perspective and supporting efforts to strengthen Canada’s healthcare system,” said Ms. Bouchard. “Our country is at a very important juncture right now and I look forward to working with President and CEO, Mr. Paul-Émile Cloutier, the HealthCareCAN team and all of our members to ensure the upcoming general election focuses on ideas, policies and actions that will help the healthcare system emerge stronger from the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Ms. Bouchard, HealthCareCAN’s first francophone chair, has been the President and CEO of St. Boniface Hospital – one of Manitoba’s largest health care facilities – since April 2018. Previously, she served as associate CEO of administration and director of quality, evaluation, performance and ethics with the Centre intégré de santé et des services sociaux de la Montérégie Est, a regional health authority in Quebec. Ms. Bouchard also serves on the boards of both the Healthcare Insurance Reciprocal of Canada (HIROC) and the Royal College International.
Ms. Bouchard is succeeding Mr. Rob MacIsaac, President and CEO of Hamilton Health Sciences who is completing his two-year term as Board Chair.
